Lion's Club Speaking Competition

18 September 2019 | General Interest

The aim of the Junior Public Speaking Project is to give students in Primary Schools the chance to develop their ability to speak in public.  Public Speaking develops self-confidence, the ability to communicate to a wide audience, to think widely on a range of issues and prepares students for future roles. Skills developed through public speaking are those of research, gaining knowledge and understanding of issues, organisation of thoughts and the confident expression of opinions.

Our Grade 3 and 4 students prepared a 3 minute speech on a topic selected by the Lion’s Club and our Grade 5 and 6 students prepared a 4 minute speech on a topic selected by the Lion’s Club.  At the school level, an internal competition was held where students were selected from these levels to represent the school at a Lion’s Club competition.

These children were: Sullivan Robey, Serena Kozlovski, Elijah Messina and Tahlia Richardson who competed at the Regional competition last Friday.

Sully was successful in going on to compete at District level in October and we wish him well.  We congratulate all the children for their amazing presentations. Lion\'s Club Public Speaking
